- Sure to inspire garden quilters regardless of their skill level. — Review by Connie Krochmal
Each year, the National Quilt Museum chooses a specific classic quilt block for its "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" contest. This book is the result of one such contest. It is sure to inspire garden quilters regardless of their skill levels.
It features the winners (first through fifth place) as well as the 13 finalists. In some cases, a quilt was made by quilting group or by a duo - with one created by a mother and daughter.
Each winner or finalist explains how she created the quilt, the techniques she used, and the inspiration for her design.
Many of these quilt designs are quite breathtaking. I find it hard to choose a favorite. One depicting water lilies is quite lovely.Lilies in the sunset features a border of realistic looking daylilies in various colors surrounding a central traditional Carolina Lily block.
The book also features a detailed history of the Carolina Lily Block and two versions of the originial block. (Posted on 10/20/14)
